SpudCell and the Days of Noah
On July 1, 2026, University of Minnesota researchers announced SpudCell — the first synthetic cell-like system built entirely from non-living chemical components that can grow, replicate its minimal genome, and divide for several generations when externally fed. Unlike earlier synthetic genome projects that used living cell chassis, this bottom-up assembly uses only purified molecules in lipid droplets and achieves basic cell-cycle functions without a natural cytoskeleton. While a genuine engineering milestone, it remains fragile, dependent on constant external feeding, and far from self-sustaining life. Some reporting claims this proves life’s core processes need “no mysterious magical spark.”
Jesus said the days before His return would be like the days of Noah, when “all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth” (Genesis 6:12; Matthew 24:37). In Noah’s generation, God-established boundaries were violated at the level of life itself. Today humanity is directly assembling and reprogramming the molecular code and machinery of living systems. The accompanying claim that we can now build what only the Creator has authored echoes the same ancient spirit of autonomy. Even this stripped-down achievement still depends entirely on God’s pre-existing design in chemistry, information, and molecular order. For the church these developments are not primarily a threat but a fresh call to stand in awe of the true Author of life and to proclaim with clarity that all life — physical and eternal — comes from Him alone.
Turkish FM: Israel Has Become “a Burden Humanity Can No Longer Bear”
In a CNN Türk interview, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Israel “is not just my problem; Israel is the world’s problem” and declared that “these people have become a burden that humanity can no longer bear.”
The remarks follow Israel’s Cabinet decision to recognize the 1915 Armenian Genocide and come amid Turkey’s ongoing sharp criticism of Israel’s Gaza operations.
For watchers of Bible prophecy, this is worth noting. Ezekiel 38 describes a coalition of nations that will one day move against Israel. Turkey (often linked by teachers to Beth Togarmah) is increasingly vocal in the anti-Israel camp. While we avoid date-setting, the rising tide of hostile rhetoric from regional powers fits the pattern Scripture shows in the last days.
